Filled, checked, or extracted where it has failed
Cavity wall insulation is excellent when the cavity is suitable and a liability when it is not. The survey matters far more than the product, and plenty of Basingstoke houses have been filled when they should not have been.
We start by establishing what you actually have: the age and construction of the wall, the width and cleanliness of the cavity, whether it is already filled, and whether the wall is exposed to driving rain. Where it is suitable, injected mineral fibre or bonded bead through drilled holes is quick, non-disruptive work — a day on a typical semi, holes matched and made good.
Where it is not suitable, we say so. Narrow cavities, rubble-filled cavities, cracked or spalled brickwork and severe exposure all point to insulating internally instead. And where an existing fill has slumped or gone damp — patchy cold spots, damp patches on internal walls — we extract the failed material, dry the cavity out and advise on the right replacement.
